Measure from the wrist crease to the tip of the middle finger: if you get 17 to 19 cm, your size is M. An excellent vertical in the wrong size performs worse than a basic one in yours. These are the catalog models compatible with your size.

From the wrist crease to the tip of the middle finger: under 17.5 cm is size S, 17.5 to 19 cm is M and over 19 cm is L. A vertical mouse in the wrong size is worse than the flat mouse you already have.
02Vertical, ergonomic or trackball
A vertical mouse removes forearm rotation and asks for a week of adjustment. A classic ergonomic mouse works from the first minute. A trackball keeps the arm still and is what rests the shoulder most.
03The angle, if it is vertical
The closer to 60°, the more it corrects your posture and the more it depends on getting the size right. Between 55° and 57° the adjustment is gentler and the benefit is still clear.
04Connection and buttons
A dedicated 2.4 GHz receiver responds better; Bluetooth lets you hop between computers. Forward and back buttons save wrist movements all day long.
How we chose this list
We start from the specs each manufacturer publishes, not from opinions: height range, load, type of lumbar support, connection and warranty. Every figure is verified against its official source, with the date it was checked noted on the product page.
The order comes from the formula published in how we choose, the same for every product, with or without an affiliate programme. Each model's award is the objective criterion it leads on within this list. See the method.
What we don't do yet: physically test every model. When we do, we will say so and sign it. We also don't publish third-party ratings or review counts, because we cannot verify them.
Frequently asked questions
How exactly do you measure hand size?
Rest your open hand on the desk and measure with a ruler from the wrist crease to the tip of the middle finger. Under 17 cm is S, 17 to 19 cm is M and over 19 cm is L.
What happens if I use a mouse a size larger than mine?
Your hand tends to stretch to reach the buttons and the grip stops being relaxed, which is exactly what an ergonomic mouse is trying to avoid. With a smaller size, the problem is that your palm isn't fully supported.
Is a vertical mouse always better?
It's the most neutral posture for the forearm, but it takes an adjustment period. If your discomfort comes from moving your arm or you're short on space, a trackball may work better for you.
