The heart of the workstation
Ergonomic chairs
The chair is where you spend the hours and the purchase people get wrong most often: almost everyone looks at the backrest, and what decides is the seat height range. Your popliteal height is 25% of your height and must fall within that range.

How to find the ergonomic chair that fits your body
Ergonomic chair rankings score models in the abstract. The filter on this page answers a different question, the only one that matters before you spend your money: does this chair fit my body?
You enter your height, your weight and the hours you sit a day. We cross that data with the official specs of every chair in the catalogue and each card shows a personal fit percentage: "covers your 44 cm seat height", "holds your weight, 136 kg max", "fixed lumbar, short for 8 h/day".
The criteria: what is checked and why
- Seat height (40% of the score). Your popliteal height ≈ height × 0.25 must fall within the manufacturer's range. If it does not, no other spec makes up for it: either your feet dangle or your knees rise.
- Maximum weight (20%). It is the frame's test limit, not a suggestion. Leave a margin above your real weight.
- Lumbar support (20%). From 6 hours a day we require adjustable or active; a fixed lumbar rarely matches your lumbar curve.
- Warranty, EN 1335 certification and adjustable depth (20%). The warranty years are the best clue to what the manufacturer itself expects of its product.
Seat height you need according to your height
This is the first cut for any chair. Check that the manufacturer's range includes your figure:
| Height | Seat height | Desk height | Eye height (top edge of the monitor) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 155 cm | 39 cm | 67 cm | 100 cm |
| 160 cm | 40 cm | 69 cm | 103 cm |
| 165 cm | 41 cm | 71 cm | 106 cm |
| 170 cm | 42 cm | 73 cm | 109 cm |
| 175 cm | 44 cm | 75 cm | 113 cm |
| 180 cm | 45 cm | 77 cm | 116 cm |
| 185 cm | 46 cm | 80 cm | 119 cm |
| 190 cm | 48 cm | 82 cm | 123 cm |
| 195 cm | 49 cm | 84 cm | 126 cm |
| 200 cm | 50 cm | 86 cm | 129 cm |
Frequently asked questions
How do I know which ergonomic chair fits my height?
Calculate your popliteal height (about 25% of your height) and check that it falls within the seat height range the manufacturer declares. At 1.75 m you need about 44 cm: a chair with a 45-55 cm range is already too high. The filter on this page runs that check on every chair in the catalogue at once.
Which specs are checked exactly?
Seat height range, declared maximum weight, type of lumbar support (fixed, adjustable or active), adjustable seat depth, type of armrests, EN 1335 certification and warranty years. All are specs published by the manufacturer, not opinions.
Why don't you use star ratings?
Because they cannot be verified and do not answer the question that matters: whether that chair fits your body. A 4.8-star chair can be terrible for you if its seat does not go down to your height or does not hold your weight.
How many chairs can I compare at once?
Up to three, head to head, with a radar by category, comparison bars and a verdict calculated with your measurements.
The calculations are indicative and educational: they do not replace a professional assessment if you have persistent pain.
